GamingWeez is proud to bring you the best PC games of 2011. We are days away from the end of the year and we just had to put this list together. We’ve played many games this year and have finally come to the top 6 (yea.. we couldn’t do 5) games of 2011 for the PC. This list will follow no particular order. While some of the games mentioned below compete directly with each other, some are so different that we just couldn’t rank them. Another item to keep in mind is that time is finite and we couldn’t play every MMO, RTS and RPG to come out, so these are our best games of 2011 (that we got to try).
Without further delay, the list of the best PC games of 2011:
Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR)
Star Wars launched late in the year, but has seen incredible success in its short lifespan. With over 1,000,000 subscribers and counting, it has become the newest hit in the MMO industry. The game features a polished adventure through the world of Star Wars and offers innovations in the story and questing department. With fully voiced NPCs with whom you have conversations and a story-driven progression, (ok, and the Star Wars IP too), this is easily not only one of the best games of the year, but of the last few years.
RIFT
The second and last MMO on the list is RIFT. RIFT kind of came out of nowhere, with buzz truly building in 2010 followed by a strong launch and good marketing all around. The game features unique dynamic gameplay, a new world to explore and a class/soul system that keeps you trying new things all the time. Unlike other MMOs to come out recently, RIFT just doesn’t get boring, no matter how many times we play.
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I started this sentence and took an arrow to the knee. This is simply one of the best games to come out, period. I’m not going to go into detail but to say that if you are a gamer, if you enjoy games, you must try this game. Its level of detail in everything you do, the graphics, and the outstanding gameplay truly make it of the best to come out in years. A huge, beautiful world, immersive gameplay that will have you playing for hours. What else could you want from a game?
Battlefield 3
The new Battlefield does a lot right. The new graphics are amazing and truly make you feel like you are in the middle of a Battlefield and the gameplay returns you to a Battlefield 2 on steroids. If you like FPS games, this is a game you must try.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Yes, the big competitor to Battlefield 3 made it onto the list as well. And why not? It offers fun battles with the same (and new) gameplay modes for online and delivers on the most important aspect of gaming: Fun. I will openly say that I prefer Battlefield 3 due to its strategy, but still enjoy MW3 for its twitch action and sheer fun.
Shogun 2: Total War
For the RTS fans, this is something you’ve got to try. I started playing Total War games when the first Shogun came out and have tried every single iteration since. Shogun 2 returns to the roots in Japan and offers incredible gameplay with stunning graphics. The combination of Turn-Based with RTS battles is as perfect as ever and the new Shogun 2 brings the game to a simpler, yet just as fun experience.
So there you have our best PC games of 2011. Do you agree? Which ones did we miss? Let us know in the comments or submit your own Top list of 2011.
